About the artist

Canadian-born, Cape Cod based artist Jackie Reeves uses mixed media to bring together figurative and abstract elements in her art. She was raised in Montreal by architect parents and studied design art at Concordia University. Her artistic career began as a professional mural painter for corporate, private and public spaces. Concurrently, Reeves co founded the Plymouth Community Art Center. In 2010 she earned her MFA in painting at Massachusetts College of Art and Design and has since exhibited in solo and group shows throughout Cape Cod and in Pennsylvania, Vermont, Washington DC and North Carolina.

Hollis Engley is a potter and former career journalist who lives and works in Pocasset with his partner, the potter Kimberly Sheerin. He was born and raised on Martha’s Vineyard and graduated from high school there. He went on to Cape Cod Community College and Lycoming College in Williamsport PA, where he received a BA in political science.

She won the 2019 Alliance for Metal Clay Arts Worldwide Sea & Sky Challenge People’s Choice Award and has been nominated for the same honors in 2020. She has taught extensively across the Cape since 2015, when she retired from Barnstable Public Schools to pursue her art career full time.

I am a self-taught woodturner influenced by world class Woodturners including members of the Cape Cod Woodturning Club. I am drawn to photograph subjects that tug at me as if I can’t breathe if I don’t preserve them for a canvas. When a particular subject captures my attention I just stop - and look at the subject from every angle, searching for just the right light and “framing with my feet”. Eventually a decision is made, yes, this is what I want to capture. Later, people may say oh, that’s different, where was it? I murmur with a smile - you walked right by it!

Peter grew up on Cape Cod, in Mashpee, and still currently resides there. He focused heavily on fine arts in high school, taking every class he possibly could. After graduating in 2004 he went on to study at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, majoring in photography. Upon leaving college he got a job as the Art Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod and held that position for seven years.
